Design Implementation:
The client’s first London store originated from their presence in the British Museum, and with this heritage in mind, we developed a design inspired by the museum’s collection piece — the Chinese Carved Jade Ewer with Interlaced Branch Motifs.
We began by extracting the ewer’s signature form and intricate interlaced floral patterns, using them as the primary visual elements on the body of the design to highlight the precision and symmetry of traditional Chinese jade craftsmanship. In the creative process, we paid particular attention to conveying the ewer’s translucent and smooth texture. By applying subtle colour gradients and layered patterns, we aimed to simulate the shimmering and delicate effect of jade under light, allowing the audience to visually experience the ewer’s lightweight elegance.
This project was driven entirely by the client’s vision, from concept and visual design to production and delivery. The client wanted the fridge magnet to merge the traditional beauty of Chinese cultural relics with the branding of their tea shop and its surrounding architectural environment, creating a culturally rich visual atmosphere. To meet this goal, we intentionally simplified the background and narrative elements so that the artefact itself became the focal point, emphasising its form and cultural symbolism. The final presentation prioritises the decorative and distinctive qualities of the fridge magnet, ensuring high visual recognition and aesthetic appeal in daily use.
